Elon Musk, a tech entrepreneur and other 350 experts have predicted that Artificial Intelligence will replace Human Intelligence by 2050.

Researchers and scientists are also more advancing AI to make it more capable of doing the task in different fields. During June 2016, experts from Yale University, Connecticut and Oxford Future of Humanity Institute surveyed Industry leaders and experts in artificial intelligence to get the prediction as well as solve this difficult question

Will AI become more intelligent than human?

Artificial Intelligence has become a popular topic to discuss. It has been applied to almost all the areas of our modern life. The development of robots and machines are not easy yet. However, there is no solid analysis or report that clears the fact when it will beat humans. It is always interesting to ask experts about the future of artificial intelligence and machine learning. In order to sustain in this techno world, startups and entrepreneurs are also trying to tame AI for their business. They say that it will create more opportunities for young generations. In addition, it is necessary for humans to interact with digital gadgets and AI machines.

Here, in this context, we will discuss:

What is AI? What will be its future? How it is changing the world? Also, find out the possibilities that when will AI eventually overtake humans in the job market.

What is Artificial Intelligence?

An AI is a computer system that has capabilities to perform tasks that ordinarily require human intelligence. These artificial intelligence systems are programmed by rules of machine learning and also powered by NLP (natural language processing). Using deep learning technologies, this system can be trained to do specific tasks by processing large sets of data and recognizing patterns in the data with the help of logical rules.

The emergence of Artificial Intelligence has already started disrupting almost every industry in the world, explained experts in the World Economic Forum. This technological revolution will fundamentally change the way of living and working in modern life.

Nowadays, AI is present everywhere. It has already started gaining the trust of young engineers and scientists. Nowadays, you can feel its presence using many examples such as self-driving cars,  Ridesharing Apps Like Uber and Lyft, Google’s AI-Powered Predictions, etc. that now can impersonate human speech, and more applications like them help humans to automate the everyday task.

What is Artificial Intelligence?

What is the history of AI and when did it begin?

The journey of artificial intelligence began in the mid 20th century. Since then, scientists have been working towards the goal of developing machines that can learn and think like humans.

  • In 1936, Alan Turing, a British mathematician who was the first person who laid the foundation of what we call artificial intelligence today. He built the first machine using algorithms and cypher theories — named it ‘Turing Machine’ .
  • Secondly, The AI term coined in 1956 at a conference in New Hampshire.
  • In 1966, the German-American computer scientist Joseph Weizenbaum of MIT invented the first Chatbot to communicate with humans — named ‘ELIZA’.
  • With ‘MYCIN’, artificial intelligence entered the medical field in 1972. Developed by Ted Shortliffe at Standford University to diagnosis and cure the illness.
  • In 1986, Terrence J. Sejnowski and Charles Rosenberg built a talking computer that can read words and pronounce them correctly. ‘NETtalk’ was taught by inputting sentences and large datasets to learn from them.
  • In 1997, IBM’s AI chess computer ‘Deep Blue’ defeated the chess world champion Garry Kasparov in the tournament.
  • AI started to become part of everyday life in the year, 2011. Powerful digital assistants such as tablets, smartphones, and laptops are really adored by humans. Apple introduced ‘Siri’ in 2011 and Microsoft’s Cortana software came in 2014.
  • Last year, Alexa has also welcomed to people’s home. Google introduced ‘ Duplex’ an AI program at a conference. Also, demonstrated how this AI-powered assistant phones a beautician and makes an appointment for you,

Besides that, Artificial Intelligence still needs a lot of work and research to become more reliable and secure against manipulation. The main goal for experts is to use sustainable AI and machine learning theories for health care.

How Artificial Intelligence is changing the world?

Artificial Intelligence is a fast-evolving technology that transforming the world and the way people live, eat, and work. Predictions say, our everyday activities will be easy to manage by these programmed machine systems. Speaking on the importance of AI technology, Microsoft’s chief envisioner David Coplin said:

“ It will change how we relate to each other. I would argue that it will ever change how we perceive, what it means to be human.”

Today, Artificial Intelligence is drastically on the rise. The use of machine learning and AI systems in governmental and non-governmental organizations, security, medical, and health care, etc can benefit the industry at a great extent. Industry leaders and entrepreneurs are interestingly acknowledging the solutions that this technology brings. Now, we can see how artificial intelligence and machine learning are empowering the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It has a vast potential to create a better world. Humans have long feared the popularity of artificial intelligence and machines replacing human labor in the energy and power resources’ industry.

However, artificial intelligence is currently in its initial phase. To transform the areas of modern life, AI needs enough resources, expertise, and right tools to be much more sophisticated and intelligent. There are various ways through which these intelligent systems are making new opportunities for the present generation.

Accessible and Affordable Health Care

Medical artificial intelligence or medical expert systems offer techniques to diagnose and suggest treatments for the particular illness. A patient can easily get accurate results after checking symptoms using AI applications. It has been widely used by physicians and doctors in many clinical situations. Easy to access and afford health care applications. For example, Babylon is an application to diagnose and predict the illness as well as providing advice to more than one million residents in Central London. It also has AI-powered chatbot to communicate with patients safely.

Create New Jobs

People are getting more afraid because it is a reason for killing millions of jobs. Programmed machines will change the workforce in coming years. But it is only one side of the coin. The other side tells you that more than 133 million jobs are expected to be created for the next generation.

Carlyn Frantz, Microsoft’s Corporate Secretary affirmed that Artificial Intelligence is a great opportunity to focus on those parts of the job that somewhere interests people and feel satisfied.

Recently, Google offers a glimpse into how AI can revolutionize healthcare. Using deep learning research work and a large dataset of retinal images, it creates an easy way to diagnose diabetic retinopathy (DR). This illness causes irreversible blindness.

Bridging Social and Culture Divides.

AI Google translator is the best example of bridging the gap between different languages. It can be personalized to translate speech and text in real-time. There are other AI-powered language tools to bridge social and cultural differences in workplaces, institutes, and everyday lives.

What is the Future of AI technology?

Right now, we are enjoying the first-generation of artificial intelligence. The next generation will have much more intelligent systems and also smarter than humans. They may be capable to do some specific tasks which are difficult for humans to do.

Based on the current trends in technology advancement and adoption, I predict that within fifteen years, artificial intelligence will technically be able to replace around 40 to 50 percent of jobs in the United States.”- Kai-Fu Lee, AI Superpowers: China, Silicon Valley, and the New World Order

Even though, there are a lot of mix assumptions about the fact that Artificial Intelligence will replace Human Intelligence and take all the jobs in the market. At the same time, Other AI experts also explained that how artificial intelligence will benefit humankind.

“It’s natural to wonder if there will be a jobless future or not. What we’ve concluded, based on much research, is that there will be jobs lost, but also gained and changed. The number of jobs gained and changed is going to be much larger, so if you ask me if I worry about a jobless future, I don’t. That’s the least of my worries.” — James Manyika, Chairman, and Director, McKinsey Global Institute (MGI)

Will Artificial Intelligence replace Human Intelligence or not? Do machines create opportunity or danger? Still, opinions are different. There is no particular proof to prove that it will beat humans intellect. However, instead of replacing humans with machines, it is better to combine AI and human intellect for the better working world. Therefore, Artificial Intelligence will continue to influence our everyday activities.
